Soil testing and management of green spaces

This session will look at collecting and preparing soil samples for testing, analysing samples, pH testing, adjusting pH, identifying nutrient deficiencies and taking appropriate remedial action. Management of green spaces will cover landscaped areas and ornamental gardens including carrying out site surveys, assessing the management requirements of an area, producing management and maintenance plans for an area, understanding biosecurity and monitoring and maintaining health and safety. (RHS level 3)

This set of courses is designed to provide experience of practical skills associated with the RHS level 2 and level 3 qualifications giving concise and up-to-date information. However, you do not need to be studying for an RHS qualification in order to attend, they are also ideal for keen gardeners who wish to develop their horticultural knowledge and practical skills on the subjects covered. The courses will cover important horticultural practices through hands on activities and associated theory. Guidance will be provided to support those candidates who are learning and practising new horticultural skills. The courses involve various practical activities so please come prepared with suitable clothing, footwear and gardening gloves. Includes a light lunch and refreshments.
