The arrival of the Arts and Crafts Garden sees architect meet plantsman, and formality tempered by a flowery extravaganza. This study day reveals the enduring qualities of a garden style crafted at a time often regarded as the 'Golden Age of Gardening', and will examine the introduction of favourites such as the herbaceous border and other romantic decorative elements, which combined to make this quintessentially English garden. In this study day knowledgeable and enthusiastic Garden Historian, Marilyn Elm will give a presentation illustrated with inspiring images, lead a discussion around interesting objects related to the period and, weather-permitting, she will give a guided walk around the garden highlighting Arts and Crafts influences
