Planning your garden
At this level schools should be:
• Identifying an individual or group interested in developing the school gardens
• Considering fundraising options
• Already growing some plants inside or outside
• Conducting an audit of the school grounds
• Planning to do a risk assessment
• Looking at ways to teach gardening skills
• Auditing the skills of pupils and teachers in using gardening as a resource
• Introducing children to the importance of plants in their lives
• Planning to involve the wider school and local community in gardening activities
