Chilli with the wow factor

EXPERT ADVICE: Hot tips on easy-to-grow chillies from Sarah Wain of West Dean Gardens – famous for its annual Chilli Fiesta, which attracts 20,000 visitors. Sarah’s been growing chillies since the early 1990s - check out her pick of the best varieties to help you grow chillies with a wow factor.

Problem watch

Deal with aphids, apple sucker, pear sucker, pear midge, and caterpillars. Use your finger and thumb to squash infestations.

Get protection!

Protect early outdoor sowings with fleece and polythene. It will aid growth and prevent bolting.
