Soil Testing and Safe Use of Garden Machinery - CANCELLED

Includes collecting and preparing soil samples for testing, distinguishing between soil textural classes and performing pH tests. The session will also discuss the importance of plant nutrition and root environments. A look at the safe operation of powered garden machinery will include health and safety considerations, how to carry out pre-start checks, controlling and adjusting the machines and general maintenance.

This set of courses is designed to provide experience of practical skills associated with the RHS level 2 and level 3 qualifications giving concise and up-to-date information. However, you do not need to be studying for an RHS qualification in order to attend, they are also ideal for keen gardeners who wish to develop their horticultural knowledge and practical skills on the subjects covered. The courses will cover important horticultural practices through hands on activities and associated theory. Guidance will be provided to support those candidates who are learning and practising new horticultural skills. The courses involve various practical activities so please come prepared with suitable clothing, footwear and gardening gloves. Includes a light lunch and refreshments.
