Cottesbrooke is the garden with everything: a two-mile drive, majestic parkland, a classical bridge, a fabulously pretty house, an 18th-century park, lakes, waterfalls, bluebell woods, rhododendrons, drifts of daffodils and primulas, 27 cultivars of naturalised snowdrops, half-a-dozen garden rooms, Scheemakers's statues from Stowe, an armillary garden, pergolas, allées, 300-year-old cedars, new developments every year, immaculate maintenance, plants a-plenty, and the signatures of Geoffrey Jellicoe, Sylvia Crowe, James Alexander Sinclair and Arne Maynard among the designers who have helped to develop it. |
