Comment

The garden at Coughton has all been made since 1992, designed by Christina Williams, Mrs Throckmorton's daughter. The Throckmortons have lived at Coughton for 300 years. An Elizabethan-style knot garden fills the courtyard, and extensive new plantings beyond lead the eye out to the distant landscape. The walled garden has a rose labyrinth, a new vegetable garden, fine herbaceous borders and a bog garden, as well as an orchard planted with local varieties of fruit. The family is building up a collection of daffodil cultivars bred by their American namesake Dr Tom Throckmorton.
