The Quinta Arboretum was created by Sir Bernard Lovell, originator of the Jodrell Bank Radio Telescope, and is now owned by the Tatton Garden Society, of which he is President. The garden features more than 10,000 trees and shrubs (2,000 taxa), with a 5ha (12½ acres) wild wood (owned by Cheshire Wildlife Trust), flower-rich meadows and beautiful views over the valley of the River Dane. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh has sponsored a collection of endangered conifers. Also of merit are collections of Quercus species and Hebe cultivars, each with 90+ taxa. |
The National Gardens Scheme Garden Finder contains details of the thousands of gardens that open for charity.
