Lucy Smith - Regional Campaign for School Gardening Advisor, North West.
Lucy undertook her horticultural training at Kew, achieving the Diploma in Horticulture in 2005. Subsequently she was Supervisor of the Climbers and Creepers botanical play area at Kew. During the time she was in this role, she developed and delivered weekend and holiday programmes for visiting families and set up and co-ordinated the children’s Gardening Club.
Following this she worked with the Hammersmith Community Gardens Association as ‘Get growing’ Project Co-ordinator and Schools Gardener. As part of this role she was involved in setting up food growing facilities in Early Years establishments . As Schools Gardener she worked with primary school children. Across both roles she undertook training with teachers, other school staff and volunteers, some of whom had learning difficulties or mental health problems.
