Hereford
On March 22nd, Broadlands Primary School, Hereford officially opened their sensory garden. The plans for the garden won 2nd prize in the Malvern Spring Show Gardening Competition. The whole school contributed to the garden and the PTA raised money towards it by selling bulbs.
This garden is one of a series of gardening projects at the school, including clearing an overgrown pond and creating raised beds to grow vegetables and flowers.
The whole school planted sunflowers for a ‘sunshine’ walk and pupils, parents and the local community planted an orchard and native trees.
Broadlands has been awarded an Eco-schools Silver and Green Flag, as well as being a runner up in the West Midlands region Greenfingers challenge.
Years 2 and 6 wrote poetry inspired by the garden. Why not create a poetry trail around your school grounds?
