Get Your Grown-ups Growing

Unfortunately all packs have now been allocated to schools. We apologise for any disappointment but please continue to register for the RHS Campaign for School Gardening if you have not already done so.

For those schools that would like to hold a get Your Grown-ups Growing event but have been unable to secure a free pack, don't give up! Why not hold an event anyway? There's a GYGG poster, flyer and certificates for you to download below together with some activity ideas to help you make the most of your event.

What is Get Your Grown-ups Growing?

GYGG is part of the Campaign for School Gardening, supported by Waitrose. Schools are encouraged to host an event in October where grandparents, parents, carers and friends are invited to help in their garden.

The first 2000 schools to sign up GYGG will receive a pack which includes seeds, stickers and a poster for the event. Information to help you run an event and ideas for activities are now available – just click on the links above, or on the dropdown menu on the left. Make sure you check out our fabulous competition, with prizes kindly provided by Hartley Botanic Greenhouses and CJ Wildlife.

Please note: GYGG packs will be sent out in the autumn term.

Schools with gardens can encourage adults within the community to help develop new areas such as a wildlife garden or help construct raised beds. A GYGG event can also see adults passing on their gardening experience to children by helping them sow seeds, plant trees and assist in weeding.

For schools without gardens it’s the ideal opportunity to involve adults in the community from the very beginning to establish some form of gardening facility in the school.

For both types of schools the event can even be used to raise funds by having a plant sale.

Our sponsors Waitrose strongly believe that it is important for children to understand where their food comes from. Find your nearest branch on waitrose.com and call them to see if they have some more grown ups who would like to help you with your event.

We would like to thank our main supporter Waitrose and our GYGG supporters, Hartley Botanic Greenhouses and CJ Wildlife for their generous contributions.
