Stanford in the Vale GYGG day

Stanford in the Vale, RHS Level 5, held their GYGG event on Friday 28th October ( Yes! Half term).

The day turned out to be amazing... the weather amazing... the turn out of adults... grandparents and the children were amazing and the work they achieved was AMAZING!

As a team, they managed to construct a chicken coop ready for their new friends to arrive!

They revamped the composting area - got rid of the plastic bins and constructed a walk in wooden structure; to enable it easier for the children to turn on a more regular basis. They even managed to put their own lovely sweet smelling ready made compost into raised beds ready to plant our winter crops.

They planted bulbs in their new Sensory Garden, took cuttings and collected seeds ready for next years planting. Hanging baskets were put up in front of the school to welcome everyone to their site. Bush's were also cut back and re-shaped. Work was done in the foundation area, LOTS of sweeping and a general tidy up. KS2 play ground was weeded and swept, along side KS1 playground. Within their time, they even managed to work in the school's garden shed and hang nails for our tools.
