13/05/2013 - Raising Dough To Do Good:
The Real Bread Campaign is launching Real Bread Week (11th to 17th May) to celebrate real bread and its makers. They also aim to raise funds for their campaign to promote the social, therapeutic and employment opportunities of Real Bread to disadvantaged groups. An activity guide is available on the website, including ideas for a beginners workshop, and a lunchbox masterclass. Read more.

Do You Rear Poultry In School?:
Many schools keep hens but wouldn’t consider themselves to have a school farm. However, there is great scope for sharing experiences and maximising the learning opportunities from poultry, so the School Farms Network would love to hear from any educational settings with poultry (no matter how few in number) and – if you wish – to add you to their mailing list for peer learning. Please contact ian@schoolfarms.org.uk or visit www.schoolfarms.org.uk

Your Starter For Ten:
Will Marcombe, Farm Links Officer for the Soil Association, is researching the levels of awareness that teaching staff have of environmental organisations and their outdoor learning opportunities. He is seeking information from any teaching staff – teachers (KS1 and upwards), TAs, technicians, volunteers, governors etc. Completing a short survey will help his research and offer a chance to win a £20 Amazon voucher too. Click here to take the survey.

Rent-A-Chicken:
Hens for Hire offer schools, nurseries and childcare setting the opportunity to experience hen keeping, and the benefits it brings to pupils, whilst removing the worry and on-going responsibility. They provide the expertise, resources, and information prepared by teaching staff to make hen keeping in school easy, fun and rewarding. Read more.

Tree Health Survey:
Participate in original research by checking the health of trees in your local environment. This new survey starts in May, but you can apply for your free information pack now. Read more.
