Redwelly is a not-for-profit organisation based in Derby. Part of Spirita, a housing organisation with charitable status, the Redwelly project was set up as a social enterprise, to carry out garden improvements for people who are disadvantaged and in need, for instance those with disabilities, the elderly or the impoverished, either as individuals or as community groups or schools.
Redwelly work in partnership with local businesses, by selling an alternative team building experience, whereby they work with a team of their staff to complete a one-day garden makeover for a client or community in need. All makeovers are led by the Redwelly team, who are experienced and trained in landscaping and horticulture. Redwelly have had a reasonable amount of success so far in working with local companies such as Enterprise Rent-a-car, Rolls-Royce and Egg.
Redwelly would like to expand their activities into helping others, such as schools, to set up school gardens or polytunnels. They have recently worked with Noel Baker Community School in Derby, creating a Japanese garden and a wildflower/native shrub area, and will soon be working with Chellaston School.
They can help with advice on design and cultivation, and can assist students with construction or may be able to put schools forward for one of our makeovers, matching them with a business sponsor.
