RHS Chelsea Miracle Gro competition

East Bergholt CEVC Primary School

A registered school of the Campaign took part in this year's RHS Chelsea Miracle Gro competition and are celebrating after their fruit and vegetable plants helped to win a coveted Silver Gilt Award.

Scotts Miracle-Gro Company provided the compost and planters and the school grew chillies, peppers and tomatoes which featured in The Sun newspaper’s Generation Garden. After pupils had planted the seeds they had to demonstrate they could grow the plants to the standard required for the prestigious show. Some 40 schools around the country were invited to take part in the project with the judges carefully selecting plants from 20 schools to take to Chelsea.

Hundreds of people flocked to the garden, full of tasty fruit and vegetables, and was visited by Her Majesty The Queen, Prince Philip and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall. On display around the Caretaker’s door the tumbling tomatoes and peppers and chillies ready to pick attracted many an admirer.
